Do you need this map? No. Do you need any map? Not really. You will only be gone 1/2 a day and you cannot get lost atop Anacapa. But suppose you love your visit. And you want more. Many people do after their first taste of the Channel Islands. Perhaps you want to hike the other 5 islands in the park. Or kayak. Or snorkle. Now you need Franko's maps.
The first Franko map I got was a hand drawn topo of the Santa Ana mountains. I still use it, despite the fact that it is more than a decade old. It is a useful trail map. But this one is so much more. Printed on two sides, the Channel Island map lists all the major coves and sea caves, expected wildlife, where to snorkle and kayak, and other points of interest on both the islands and the coast from Oxnard to Point Conception. It even provides the shipping routes for the two major concessionaires and contact numbers for those wanting guided tours on the islands, surrounding waters, or below the waves. And of course, it offers the detailed trail maps Franko is famous for. In all, this is an excellent resource for planning your next trip to California's Galapagos Islands.
