Sunken Dreams ReviewI bought this book strictly for the scuba diving aspect, not really expecting much of a story. Mr. Gasser very much surprised me not only by putting out a fairly well written story with some very unexpected twists and turns, but also did an excellent job of bringing out his characters personalities, both good and bad. Every character in the story, including the main "hero" (or anti-hero) as the case may be had their own flaws and good points.
Bobby Wright, the main character, is a scuba instructer who lives a pretty carefree life. He gets talked into looking for a lost treasure by two of his female students. Also along is a friend of his, Vince, a bartender with an eye for the ladies and a host of macho ego. Well, lo and behold, they find the chest of gold coins and then the trouble starts. Everyone has different ideas as how the treasure should be devided and how best to keep the goverment officials out of their hair (and pocketbooks). How each individual plots to get their share and more and how each person's back story comes to light makes for a really good read.
While there wasn't quite as much underwater action as I had hoped for, this was still a fun read and well worth the purchase price. Mr. Gasser really brings out his characters very well even though some of his dialogue is a little too mechanical at times. For what appears to be a self published book, the grammatical errors were very few. It appears it was proof read quite well which I was glad of as many of these self-pub books are quite distracting with so many mistakes in them.

They might have worked out their differences, but things swiftly become more complicated when word of the discovery reaches the family who originally lost the coins in a shipwreck. Intrigue and betrayal ensue as everyone fights for a share of the coins. As euphoria dissolves into disappointment and greed, the characters are forced to cope with their own personal shortcomings and motivations, but a few discover a different sort of treasure. The ending isn't what you'd expect''.or would you?
