Placenames of Portsmouth ReviewI'm a Portsmouth, N. H. native and I read anything historical I can get my hands on especially if it is about Portsmouth. I have several books on the city and this is one of my favorites that I find I return to over and over again. It is logically laid out and covers the city section by section. I thought I knew everything about Portsmouth, but I found old photos and many facts I never knew existed. The book is detailed enough for serious history buffs but it also is written in a way that young people would find easy and entertaining. I would highly recommend this book for anyone with an appreciation for the past.Placenames of Portsmouth OverviewThe business of naming is as old as language itself.
