Home of The Brave ReviewThis reads like it was written from a check list of places to mention to give the location authenticity. Unfortuately the person(s) who made the list were often misinformed. For example, since Pease Airforce Base was not built until the mid 50s, it is unlikely 2 men worked there in 1943. The area of Portsmouth which is now Strawberry Bank was Puddledock not Puddleduck. Yes Kittery 'Foreside' is an area of Kittery but it is seldom referred to as such. By the way, does Tricia live there, where she starts her run, or in Kittery Point? She can't even remember her characters names. Is it Tami Keen or Tammy? The author alternates back and forth several times in a single page.
And please tell me what all the italics are meant to indicate? They are hugely distracting though distractions while trying to read this book were welcomed.
The dialogue is horrible especially when written to indicate an accent. The characters are never developed and are laughable charicatures.
I bought this since I was raised in the area but couldn't even finish reading it. I have put other books down without finishing them but this is the first time one was so dreadful that I wrote a review.Home of The Brave OverviewPolice Chief Parks of Kittery, too old to fight in the WWII, nonetheless fights the deadliest fire-bug ever which Chief Randy Stewart of Portsmouth, whose life is balanced on the movement of a bullet, chases the murderous phantoms who cause prostitutes to disappear. And Mary Rose Sabatino, owner of the Bread of Angels Bakery, discovers true love amid the most horrendous crime of all...a crime so terrible, so disgusting, that to this day, people speak of it in stunned whispers.Enjoy the tenth of Tracksler's engaging books, combining charming fictional characters with a few not-so-fictional ones, deadly humor, a little bit of love, a lot of intrigue, and a fascinating window into the history of the Kittery-Portsmouth areas in 1943 as America's Home Front does its bit for the War. Tracksler is the multi-award-winning author of ten books, each a glimpse into murder, special problems, entertainment, topical recipes and history through the ages, as well as continuing the lives, excitement and loves of the Sabatino cousins.
