Pocket Atlas of Acupuncture (Complementary Medicine (Thieme Paperback)) ReviewThis is a great book, and I am still kicking myself for having bought a different book first.
Some pros:
- This book contains ALL the points, not just the "important" ones
- The categories, functions, and indications for each point are listed
- The pictures are full-color drawings and include all the underlying structures (muscles, bones, etc), not just surface anatomy -- and they are high quality DRAWINGS and not photographs (having a photo of a naked woman for illustration purposes [found in a similar-looking acupuncture atlas] may be helpful, but not so when you have to take the train or bus to school and have to constantly cover up your pages)
- The paper is high-quality glossy paper that will stand up to years of flipping through the pages
- There is a FANTASTIC general information section in the beginning of the book, with some of the best 3D pulse illustrations I've ever seen
I hope this was helpful!!Pocket Atlas of Acupuncture (Complementary Medicine (Thieme Paperback)) OverviewThe PA of Acupuncture provides the reader with a brief overview of the history of acupuncture in China and Europe, it describes the underlying principles of Chinese medicine and how it differs from Western medicine, and it looks at the way Western medicine attempts to explain the effects achieved by acupuncture therapy.

The main focus of this book is the presentation of the 361 classic acupuncture points giving details of their locations, the way they are classified, their actions and indications, as well as the needling techniques to be used. On the pages facing the descriptions, there are precise anatomical drawings showing the paths of the channels and the points located on them.
